Fruit Purees & Smoothies

Persimmon Oatmeal

Be sure to enjoy these fruits when they are fully ripe (or else they contain a tannic, chalky quality when you eat them); they will be slightly squishy when you squeeze them.  No need to peel them, their skin is thin and full of nutrients.  Persimmons are loaded with Vitamin C and are an excellent source of potassium.

Fills one 6 oz. Sili Squeeze
4 oz. oatmeal or rice cereal
2 oz. persimmon, diced small

Prepare your oatmeal or cereal as you normally would, but include the persimmon while you do so.  For our Sili Squeezers – be sure the persimmon as broken down enough during the cooking process or simply hand mash the pieces to insure easy flow of your Squeeze.  Serve warm.

Persimmon-y Bananas

Fills one 4 oz. Sili Squeeze
1.5 oz. persimmon (fully ripe!)
2.5 oz. bananas

Puree or mash the ingredients until well combined.  Add a dash of cinnamon if desired.  Serve immediately.

Creamy Avocados

It’s easy for our Sili family in California to find avocados year-round...So here is a super simple, creamy and protein-rich snack or meal for your little one to enjoy right now.  Avocado’s are rich in folate (healthy cells and tissues) and potassium (metabolism and healthy bodily function) and are a good source of Vitamin K (clots blood).

Fills one 6 oz. Sili Squeeze
4 oz. plain Greek yogurt
2 oz. ripe avocado

Mash the avocado into the yogurt and mix well.  For a more unique experience, add fresh mint sprigs (use a blender to combine well).

Simple Orange Yogurt

A simple recipe for a quick energy boost!  Orange has some truly energizing qualities for your little one, so we thought adding the zest to their favorite yogurt would be a great morning pick-me-up.  You know we love our Greek yogurt and the vanilla version makes a great flavor combination with the orange zest.

Fills one 4 oz Sili Squeeze
4 oz vanilla Greek yogurt
1/2 TB. freshly grated orange zest

Use a microplane zester for the finest zest.  Or, you can simply run a knife through your freshly grated zest to make it super fine.  Stir the orange zest and yogurt until well combined.  Serve chilled.

Minty Winter Smoothie

A fantastic little treat for your child, this is a perfect snack on-the-go.

Fills one 6 oz. Sili Squeeze
2 oz. banana
2 oz. plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
1 oz. blackberries
1 oz. plain or vanilla hemp milk
4 mint leaves

Puree all the ingredients until smooth.  Serve chilled.

Berries, Mint, Orange zest

A great snack for your little one when you are on the go, this will keep your child’s taste buds satisfied for hours.

Fills one 6 oz Sili Squeeze
4 oz mixed berries, fresh or frozen
2 oz. plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
1 tsp. orange zest
2 mint leaves, finely chopped

Puree the ingredients until smooth.  Serve chilled.

Peanut Butter Flaxseed Smoothie

This creamy smoothie is packed with protein, antioxidants and Omega 3’s – thanks to this simple but very effective ingredient list.

Fills one 6 oz Sili Squeeze
3 oz vanilla hemp milk
1.5 oz peanut butter
1 oz banana
.5 oz flax seed oil

Puree the ingredients until well combined.  Serve chilled. 

*Please be sensitive and aware of children in your playgroup or school that may be allergic to peanuts and must avoid all contact with the peanut oils (which remain on food containers and little hands).  

Coconut Banana Smoothie

Coconut water makes a sweet flavor addition to smoothies for our little ones.  One of it’s perks- its loaded with potassium.  It’s become rather trendy so it is pretty easy to find at any market you frequent.

Fills one 6 oz Sili Squeeze
3 oz vanilla Greek yogurt
2 oz banana
1 oz coconut water

Puree all the ingredients until smooth.  Serve chilled.

Babies First Green Smoothie

This is a great way to introduce green smoothies to your baby’s world.  After all, the foods you introduce to your little ones prepare the way for healthy eating for the rest of their life!

Fills one 4 oz Sili Squeeze
1 oz apple, seeded and peeled
1 oz banana
1 oz spinach
1 oz water

Puree the ingredients until smooth, adding more or less water as necessary.  Serve room temperature.

Apple Green Smoothie

Not a green apple smoothie but an apple green smoothie….Ramp up your little one’s day with this vitamin-rich smoothie for their Sili Squeeze.

Fills one 6 oz Sili Squeeze
3 oz banana
2 oz green apple, cored & peeled
1 oz kale
1 TB flaxseed oil
water as needed

Puree the banana, apple, kale and flaxseed oil until smooth, adding water as needed for a smooth consistency.  Serve chilled.
